1.NAME OF ORGANISATION
 
 
2.OBJECTIVES  & POWERS

  • To develop the capacity and the skills of the members of the Polish community in Northern Ireland and those who are preparing to come to Northern Ireland, in such a way that they are better able to identify and help meet their needs, are aware of their rights and entitlements and can participate more fully in Northern Ireland society.
  • To advance the education of the public in Polish culture and cultural diversity and to provide education programmes to the Polish community to support language needs and improve employability.
  • To support and co-operate with those organisations and groups which defend and articulate the views of ethnic minority communities in Northern Ireland.
 
2.1 In order to further the objectives the Association may;

  • - Employ any pay any person or persons to supervise, organise and carry on the work of the Association and make necessary arrangements regarding legal obligations as an employer.
  • - Arrange or assist in the arrangement of exhibitions, meetings, lectures, social events and activities, classes, seminars and training courses.
  • - Raise funds and invite and receive contributions from any person or persons and organisations by way of subscriptions and otherwise
  • - Carry on trade only in order to carry out a primary objective of the Association or is incidental to the carrying out of the objectives.
  • - Produce papers, books, periodicals, pamphlets or other documents or films or recorded tapes as shall further the objectives.
  • - Purchase or take on lease or exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any property and any rights and privileges necessary for the promotion of such objects and construct, maintain and alter any buildings or erections necessary for the work of the Association.
  • - Subject to law, sell, lease or otherwise dispose of all or any of the property or assets of the Association.
  • - Accept gifts and borrow or raise money to further the objectives on such terms and on such security as shall be thought fit.
  • - Develop links with other organisations and in particular other Polish community groups and ethnic minority groups facing similar issues.
  • - Bring together in conference representatives of voluntary organisations, government departments, statutory authorities and individuals to further the objectives of the Association.
  • - To establish other branches of the organisation in Poland if and when necessary in furtherance of the objectives of this association and in accordance with local charity regulations.
 
3. MEMBERSHIP

  • 3.1 Full voting membership of the Association is open to any member of the Polish community aged 18 or over and who is resident in Northern Ireland. Affiliated membership without voting rights shall be open to any individual resident in Northern Ireland over 18 who supports the objects of the association
  • 3.2 An individual applying for membership (voting or non-voting) shall be required to complete an application form and register with the Secretary of the Association or in their absence whichever individual has been give the responsibility by the Management Committee.
  • 3.3 The association may appoint a Patron to the association as agreed by the Management Committee. The Patron will have no voting rights but will support the work of the organisation and work on a voluntary basis to promote the work of the association.
  • 3.4 All individual members will have the right to vote at the General meeting of the association
  • 3.5 The Management Committee shall have the right to;
  • (i)approve or reject applications for membership; and
  • (ii)or good and sufficient reason to terminate the membership of any individual, provided that the member concerned shall have the right to be heard by the Management Committee before a final decision is made.
  • 3.6 Members are expected to be helpful to each other and share work accordingly when a need arises.
  • 3.7 All members and constituents shall pay such subscriptions as the Management Committee may determine.
